Making Music with Castings

muzoracle.com

muzoracle.comListening to the Harmony Cards -- each one has a “Hear It” button -- is most helpful in understanding them; their music adds a dimension to their meaning that words alone cannot express. In a full-layout casting, even the cards that don’t have musical notes associated with them per se, like the Musicians and the Compositionals, gain a musical dimension: as they’re under or above a scalepoint, and, as the casting has a key center, they can be “played.”

Castings as a whole can be entered and played back via the Casting Engine, a small, simple piece of software that can be downloaded for free on this website. If you play an instrument -- especially a polyphonic one -- you can also play castings yourself; they can be read like music, and improvised and expanded upon in all sorts of ways.
